The sharpest wedge in freight
Detention, captured.
Every hour a truck sits at a dock beyond free time is worth $50–100+ — and most of it is
never billed, because claims need timestamps nobody keeps. Velcun keeps them automatically.
$64/hr
average detention billed (ATRI)
$66.65/hr

117–209 h
driver hours detained per year
How Velcun captures it
- Arrival is timestamped by geofence — the truck's GPS (ELD feed or the driver's phone) crosses the facility boundary and the clock starts. No driver forms, no memory.
- A watchdog accrues every billable hour — free time (default 2h) counts down; beyond it, detention accrues hourly against the load's terms.
- It rides the invoice as a line item — when the load delivers, detention lands on the freight invoice next to linehaul and FSC, and flows out as an EDI 210 the broker's AP system accepts.
- The evidence is exportable — ping-by-ping arrival history backs the claim if it's disputed.
The math per truck
Capture even 2 detention hours a week at the ATRI average and you recover
roughly $6,600 a year per truck that today quietly evaporates — on top of a
dispatcher replacement that costs $1,000/truck/month instead of $1,200–$1,400 and a percentage of gross.
